Mecca Alliance Agrees on Collective Measures Against Houthi Attacks

(MENAFN) Saudi Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman said Monday that the Strategic Political and Defense Committee of the newly formed Mecca Alliance, which includes Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, had agreed to activate collective deterrence measures following recent Houthi attacks on Saudi territory.

"The committee agreed to activate collective deterrence measures within the framework of the Alliance in response to the attacks and all those responsible for them," Salman wrote on X, saying the decision was reached during an emergency meeting.

The committee also voiced support for Saudi Arabia following what Salman described as "heinous attacks" targeting the kingdom and holy sites within its territory.

The developments follow a renewed escalation in Yemen that has extended into neighboring Saudi Arabia, with Houthi forces carrying out drone and missile attacks against targets inside the kingdom.
