Iran Weighs US Deal as Trump Pushes for Sunday Signing Deadline
"Iran has not yet announced its final decision on the proposed memorandum of understanding," the source told an Iranian news agency.
"The review of the political, legal, and technical dimensions of the proposals is still ongoing," he added.
According to the news agency, the various components of the proposed agreement are being examined simultaneously at both expert and senior decision-making levels, as Tehran works to assess the full implications of the deal.
US President Donald Trump had declared Saturday via his Truth Social platform that a formal agreement with Iran was on course to be signed as early as Sunday.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif — whose government has been serving as a key intermediary between Washington and Tehran — similarly indicated that a final deal could be within reach within the next 24 hours.
Iran, however, firmly pushed back on that compressed timeline, stating that the agreement would not be formalised on Sunday, while leaving open the possibility that signing could take place within the coming days.
The Pakistan-brokered diplomatic framework has centred on three core objectives: bringing an end to active hostilities between Tehran and Washington, restoring free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, and reaching a durable consensus on Iran's nuclear programme.
Iranian officials have maintained that a substantial portion of the proposed text has already been mutually agreed upon, while levelling accusations at Washington of hampering progress through inconsistent positions and contradictory public statements.
