Bondi Beach Shooting Suspect Faces Nineteen New Charges
The new charges include 10 counts of "shooting at with intent to murder," six counts of discharging a firearm with intent to resist arrest, and three counts of causing wounding or grievous bodily harm with intent to murder, according to reports.
Court proceedings revealed the scale of the investigation, with prosecutors stating that the evidence file contains around 230,000 CCTV images along with “numerous devices” belonging to other individuals allegedly connected to the accused. Some of the material reportedly requires translation, as noted in court.
The suspect, identified as Naveed Akram, is currently being held in a high-security prison. He had already been facing 59 separate charges, including multiple counts of murder, attempted murder, and committing a terrorist act, in relation to a shooting at a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach in Sydney on December 14.
The latest additions significantly expand the scope of the prosecution’s case as legal proceedings continue.
