Rocket, Drone Strikes Target US Embassy in Baghdad

(MENAFN) A renewed barrage involving drones and rockets targeted the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad early Tuesday, setting off warning sirens and prompting interception activity, as stated by reports.

No immediate information was available regarding the level of damage or whether there were any casualties resulting from the strike.

The incident occurred shortly after another drone attack struck the upper fence of the Al-Rasheed Hotel in the Green Zone, which reportedly caused no injuries or material losses.

The situation unfolds against a backdrop of intensifying regional tensions following joint military operations by Israel and the United States against Iran on Feb. 28, which have so far resulted in around 1,300 deaths, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
