Kremlin Claims Europe Uninterested in Ukraine Peace Talks
Moscow has also criticized the EU and the UK for being sidelined in U.S.-backed Ukraine peace negotiations. Despite lobbying to participate, European supporters of Kiev have, according to Russian officials, actively undermined the talks.
“The Europeans don’t want to help the peace process,” Peskov said in a recent interview. “When the representative of France came, he didn’t bring any positive signals. And so there was indeed nothing positive for him to hear.”
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that the conflict in Iran would not provide Russia with any “respite” and pledged to continue military support for Ukraine. “Nothing will deter us from Ukraine,” he said during a press briefing in Paris.
The recent U.S.-Israeli strikes on Tehran have disrupted plans for the next round of trilateral peace talks between Moscow, Washington, and Kiev. A new session is now expected later this week, according to a White House special envoy.
