Israel Finishes Tests of David’s Sling Missile Defense System

(MENAFN) Israel announced Wednesday that it has successfully completed tests of its David’s Sling air defense system, designed to intercept a variety of threats including rockets, missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, and drones.

The Defense Ministry stated that the trials were conducted by the Israel Missile Defense Organization in collaboration with the US Missile Defense Agency and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, a leading Israeli defense contractor.

“The test series was built on operational lessons learned from recent combat and included a wide range of challenging scenarios simulating existing and emerging threats,” the ministry said.

Moshe Patel, head of the Israel Missile Defense Organization, commented that the exercises concluded “with complete success, enabling a significant upgrade to the State of Israel's air and missile defense architecture."

David’s Sling, operational since 2017, serves as the intermediate layer of Israel’s multi-tier missile defense network, positioned between the long-range Arrow system and the short-range Iron Dome. Israel’s arsenal also includes US-made THAAD ballistic missile defense systems.

Amid ongoing discussions about a potential US strike on Iran, Israeli authorities say preparations are being made for all possible scenarios.
