Iran, France, Britain, Germany to continue discussions

(MENAFN) Iran and the three European nations of France, Britain, and Germany, collectively known as the E3, have agreed to continue diplomatic contacts in the coming days, according to reports from Tehran.

In an interview with state media, Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei discussed the results of a meeting held earlier in Geneva between senior diplomats from Iran, the E3, and the European Union.

During the talks, Iran “explicitly and clearly” conveyed its demands regarding the lifting of sanctions and its nuclear rights. Baghaei noted that the Iranian delegation told the Europeans they did not have the authority to trigger the snapback mechanism to reinstate international sanctions and warned of potential consequences if such actions were pursued.

Additionally, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs stated that both sides had shared their positions on UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which endorses the 2015 nuclear agreement between Tehran and global powers.
